At the beginning of last week, the tariffs on Chinese imports into the US dropped from 145% to 30%. This window supposedly will last 90 days, which opens up a potential window of opportunity to get Wave 2A delivered into the US.
We say potential because none of the people we’ve talked to, whether they be industry colleagues, or logistics professionals, can tell us with confidence that they fully understand how these tariffs operate.
Will they actually charge us 30% of the manufacturer’s declared value at the port? Will the number change again in the next three months? What happens after the three months? We've been told they'll go up to 54%, but we've also heard they might go up to 80%. It’s all very blurry.
Regardless, before we made any formal announcements, we wanted to do our due diligence and make sure that nothing we say here is completely off-base or unrealistic.
As of now, it’s looking promising.
We are going to try our best to take advantage of this 90 day window and fulfill all worldwide Wave 2A orders, including the US orders . With production finishing in the next two weeks, we believe that a July 2025 fulfillment date is realistic. Some regions like Australia and parts of Asia will probably fulfill the quickest, while the EU and UK will probably take the longest.
This would also mean that we would be able to stock up both our US and EU warehouses with surplus Wave 2A products that will be for sale once fulfillment is complete.
Even if we fulfill worldwide, we will still provide both our PDFs and the fully scripted TTS mods for free.
30% is better than 145%, but still more than charged on the campaign for, and still more than we’d budgeted for. Frankly, it feels like extortion either way…
We hope things remain where they are. But we’re living in weird times, and as we’ve seen, things could change in the blink of an eye.
We're expecting that this news of lower tariffs will cause a mad rush of production and fulfillment needs from companies all over the world. When the demand is high, prices go up, and we anticipate container prices and last mile shipping to surge during this window.
If worse comes to worst, something like a GoFundMe could help us out in the future, but as of right now we’re planning on eating this tax and getting this fulfilled.
Rest assured: we will not be adding any more expenses to your existing orders.
We’re continuing to get quotes from multiple manufacturers for Wave 2B. Some of the quotes we have received have been very favorable, and if accurate, will help ease the burden of import and customs fees during fulfillment, regardless of the region.
We can’t predict what will happen after these 90 days, but we’re continuing to submit our Wave 2B files to our current manufacturer. They have our molds, they know our product, and continuing to work with them would be ideal for us.
As of now, everything is ready for final proofing and production, other than Act 2 + 3 and Pirates.
We’re approaching the finish line for Act 2 + 3. Our groups are all in the final Chapter with only a handful of Encounters left. We expect to wrap up playtesting for Act 2 + 3 in about 3 weeks.
For Pirates, we’ve had our alpha-tester run through the whole product and catch all the immediately noticeable issues. Following in his wake, we have a couple full groups playing through and giving us feedback weekly.
We’re hoping to finish up playtesting for Pirates around the same time that Act 2 + 3 is done.
Once those are done, our graphic designer will run through them with one final polish. Then we package the files for print.
